“As thinkers and as writers, we all seek to contribute to the great conversation. In an age
where everything happens faster, the underground, competitive art form of slam poetry
is speaking its peace in three minutes and ten seconds. Birthed as a voice for those who
did not have one, Slam Poetry aims to bridge communities by addressing the common
denominators of the human experience. The opportunity to positively influence, inspire
and uplift a community has never been greater. The SUNY New Paltz Slam Team is
ranked 6th in the nation and is currently underway with their season to determine who will
become the voice and face of the New Paltz Campus. You are invited to perform your
poetry, judge the slam, or be a part of the audience that will shape the 2010-2011 New
Paltz Slam Team.
